Contact Duration-Aware Epidemic Broadcasting in Delay/Disruption-Tolerant Networks

چکیده
DTNs (Delay/Disruption-Tolerant Networks) composed of mobile nodes in low node-density environments have attracted considerable attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose a CD-BCAST (Contact Duration BroadCAST) mechanism that can reduce the number of message forwardings while maintaining short message delivery delays in DTNs composed of mobile nodes. The key idea behind CD-BCAST is to increase the probability of simultaneous forwarding by intentionally delaying message forwarding based on the contact duration distribution measured by each node. Through simulations, we show that CD-BCAST needs substantially less message forwardings than conventional mechanisms and it does not require parameter tuning under varieties of communication ranges and node densities. key words: delay/disruption-tolerant networks, opportunistic networks, epidemic broadcasting, contact duration distribution, mobile ad-hoc network

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
متن کاملCooperative Caching for Timely and Secure Data Access in Disruption Tolerant Networks
Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTNs) consist of mobile devices that contact each other opportunistically. Propose the original approach to support cooperative caching in DTNs, which enable the sharing and coordination of cached data among multiple nodes and reduces data access delay. The fundamental idea is to intentionally cache data at a set of network central locations (NCLs), which can be ea...
متن کاملA Context-Aware Broadcast Protocol for Mobile Wireless Networks
Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) are a sub-class of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). They are mobile wireless networks that feature inherent connection disruption. In particular such networks are generally non-connected. In this paper we focus on defining a broadcast service which operate on DTNs. A number of protocols solving the problem of broadcasting across DTNs have been proposed in the past...
متن کاملTicket-based Multiple Packet Broadcasting in Delay Tolerant Networks
In delay tolerant networks (DTNs), broadcasting is an important routing function that supports the distribution of data to all users in the network. Efficient broadcasting in DTNs is a challenging problem due to the lack of continuous network connectivity. In this paper, we consider the limited bandwidth scenario for DTN broadcasting. Our scheme aims to provide a ticket-based multiple packet br...
متن کاملA Socially Aware Routing Based on Local Contact Information in Delay-Tolerant Networks
In delay-tolerant networks, network topology changes dynamically and there is no guarantee of continuous connectivity between any two nodes. These features make DTN routing one of important research issues, and the application of social network metrics has led to the design of recent DTN routing schemes. In this paper, we propose an efficient routing scheme by using a node's local contact histo...
